We are looking for someone to be a Safeguarding Officer in our Missing Person Investigation Team. Could you be who we are looking for?

About the team/Department you will be joining:

As a Safeguarding Officer, you will undertake a range of investigative activities to support missing person enquiries. The role is primarily office based and involves the review, research and development of investigative opportunities using police systems, partner agency information and other available resources. You will work closely with investigators, supervisors and partner agencies to gather information, identify opportunities to progress investigations and ensure enquiries are completed to a high standard.

• This is a predominantly office-based role located in the Kingsway, Bridgend.
• The role does not accommodate home working.
• Working hours will be in line with operational requirements of the Missing Person Investigations Team.

About the role and your key responsibilities:

• Maintain regular contact with reporting persons, family members and other relevant individuals to obtain information and provide updates on investigations.
• Review information received through media appeals, public reporting, and partner organisations, identifying opportunities to progress investigations.
• Assess and evaluate information from multiple sources to support investigative decision making.
• Maintain accurate investigative records, and ensure information is recorded in accordance with force policy and procedures.

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify opportunities from complex information.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage professionally with members of the public, partners and colleagues.
• Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing demands.
• A commitment to safeguarding vulnerable people and supporting high quality investigations.

The successful candidate must be prepared to undergo vetting to MV/SC level.
