Overview

Role: Safeguarding Officer • Academy: Outwood Academy Bydales • Start Date: 01/09/2026 • Salary: £27,444-£28,353 (FTE £30,024-£31,022) • Working Pattern: 37 Hours Per Week, Monday to Friday, Term Time only plus 15 days

Significant expertise in child protection and a dedication to ensuring the health and welfare of young people. The Safeguarding Officer coordinates safeguarding referrals, manages documentation, and initiates multi agency interventions to protect vulnerable students and families. This strategic and hands on role requires working directly with external agencies and leading the academy's response to complex child protection issues.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate safeguarding referrals and maintain accurate records.
  • Manage documentation and case files related to safeguarding.
  • Initiate multi agency interventions in collaboration with external agencies.
  • Lead the academy's response to complex child protection issues and ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures.
  • Collaborate with pastoral, welfare, and senior leadership teams to safeguard students.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Significant expertise in child protection and safeguarding in an educational setting.
  • Ability to work with external agencies and coordinate multi agency responses.
  • Experience in documenting safeguarding activity and maintaining records.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional approach to safeguarding governance.
  • Commitment to the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
