Role PurposeThis role is part of the Risk & Compliance team. The purpose is to contribute to Engine's Risk Management Framework and ensure that Engine:
- Identifies and manages risk across all activities (UK and international).
- Operates within the agreed risk appetite(s).
- Meets Group risk standards and Engine risk standards, aligns with relevant industry standards, and demonstrates to clients the ability to identify and mitigate risk clearly and timely.
The role collaborates with the Compliance Director, the Risk & Compliance Team, Information Security and Legal to identify and manage risk in current and planned jurisdictions in a clear, transparent, repeatable manner within our policies and risk appetites.
Key Accountabilities or Responsibilities- Embed and mature the operation of Engine's Risk Management Framework, including the Risk Appetite Framework, capture and mitigate enterprise risks, and maintain ongoing operational risk management.
- Facilitate the implementation of a risk management tool for better tracking, MI, and aggregated reporting.
- Build and run Engine's RCSA process, track actions to completion, and report progress; support wider business areas in identifying, understanding, and documenting risks across current and planned activities.
- Perform risk assessments relating to business change, global expansion, etc., with the wider team.
- Contribute to risk assessments and risk reporting to the Engine Management Team, Committees and Board as required.
- Collaborate with the Starling Group and Engine Risk functions, Engine's management team, Information Security, legal, and other key stakeholders to achieve these objectives.
- Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and engage constructively at all levels.
- Experience collaborating on risk assessments and tracking actions to conclusion.
- Self-motivated and autonomous; comfortable in a collaborative, flat-structured environment.
- Delivers pragmatic decisions in a commercial context while challenging constructively when needed.
- Embodies Engine's risk culture across the organisation.
- Generalist or operational risk management experience.
- Desirable: risk function experience within a SaaS/technology firm in a regulated environment.
- Delivery-driven with ownership and ability to drive tasks to completion.
- Confident communicator at all levels; capable of conveying complex concepts simply.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills; attention to detail.

- Video interview with the Risk & Compliance Manager ( 45 minutes)
- Video interview with the Compliance Director ( 45 minutes)
- Final interview with the Finance Director ( 45 minutes)
