Job Description
Rhyme Time & Storytelling Leader for School Drop-In Sessions

Local schools often visit Childs Hill Library for special drop in sessions that introduce children to stories, songs, and the joy of reading. We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to lead Rhyme Time or Story Time activities during these visits. As a volunteer, you'll help create a warm, engaging experience for school groups, supporting early literacy, inspiring curiosity, and helping children feel excited about the library. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys performing, interacting with young children, and bringing stories to life.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare age appropriate Rhyme Time or Story Time sessions tailored to the visiting school group.
  • Deliver lively, engaging sessions using songs, stories, actions, and props as suitable.
  • Encourage participation from all children in a friendly, inclusive manner.
  • Ensure the session runs smoothly and stays within the agreed timeframe.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and well managed environment throughout the visit.
  • Follow all safeguarding, health, and safety procedures.
  • Communicate clearly with visiting school staff to support smooth coordination.
