Job Description

Are you a Neonatal Nurse with an interest in ROP and looking for a new challenge?If so come and join us in working within the new northwest ROP screening service being led by the Northwest Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (NWNODN).This exciting opportunity will see you support the ROP Model to deliver a sustainable service for the future, ensuring all infants across the northwest receive timely ROP screening and treatment.Although you will primarily be based at your host location, there may be a requirement to cross cover other nurse screeners across the region. This will require travel and working within any of the 22 neonatal Trusts to cover sickness and absence as per the Hub and Spoke model.

Person Specification Communication and Relationship skills
  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills and effectively engage with the ROP Coordinator, ROP screening and treatment teams and other relevant members of the MDT and neonates team.
Knowledge , Training and Experience
  • "Registered Nurse (Adult / Paediatric) Neonatal Qualification in Speciality Post Graduate Diploma or equivalent specialist knowledge and experience"
Planning and Organisational skills
  • Manages and plans own workload with both clinical and non clinical tasks. Is required to act appropriately/take action in adverse event.
  • uses own clinical judgement and neonatal experience alongside the local neonatal teams, risk assesses the patient and the subsequent impact of the procedure, with the ability to abort the procedure if the patient is clinically unstable.
Working condiitons
  • Ability to drive and has access to a vehicle - Role requires travel between hospital sites
  • Requirement to use VDU equipment most days.
Freedom to Act
  • Work is managed rather than supervised. Works independently and within expectations of the role. Awareness of limitations
