We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly person to join the Catering Team as a Retail Catering Assistant working in B Level Restaurant and Stacked Retail Unit. This is a weekend post - 07:00 to 14:00 Sat/Sun.

Requirement for References - candidates must provide 5 years of employment and/or professional references.

Key Responsibilities- Prepare food of the highest quality in the Stacked Retail Unit.
- Serve customers with food and beverages to a high standard.
- Carry out mechanical and hand washing.
- Clean equipment in B Level Restaurant and Stacked Retail Unit.
- Work in other areas of the Catering Department as required.
- Work lone.
- Communicate information regarding food service to customers verbally and by telephone.
- Notify management of any discrepancies in receipt and distribution of catering supplies.
- Demonstrate duties to new starters.
- Organise own day to day work tasks or activities.
- Report faults and failures of electrical equipment or building fabric to management.
- Move light furniture for general cleaning, following H&S procedures.
- Use correct cleaning products within COSHH regulations and apply PPE (gloves, aprons, safety goggles).
- Report accidents, near misses or non conformities to Team Leader or Manager.
- Ensure safe disposal and packaging of waste as per NHS policy.
- Maintain adequate stocks of food provisions and consumables and request further supplies from the catering store.
- Complete temperature records and log sheets.
- Complete all cleaning schedules and other relevant paperwork accurately within given timelines.
- Undertake surveys and audits as necessary.
- Safely operate cash registers and supporting equipment.
- Follow guidelines for cashing up registers and ensuring money is secure.
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment.
- Manually or mechanically wash catering utensils, crockery and cutlery.
- Carry out environmental cleaning of floors, work surfaces, fixed equipment.
- Serve food while adhering to food safety guidelines, maintaining portion control and presentation skills.
- Prepare basic food items including salads, sandwiches, breakfast, deep fried foods and snacks.
- Organise the delivery of functions throughout the hospital site.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene.
- Follow HACCP guidelines.
- Cover break times, annual leave and sickness when required.
- Log in and out at the start and finish of each shift.
- Occasionally work in other areas of the facilities service after appropriate training and support.
- Teamwork and ability to work independently.

- Remain calm, focused and cope with work under pressure.
- Adaptable and flexible.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety.
Food Safety Certificate desirable; no formal qualifications are required.
