Overview

Location: On site / Mallow, Co. Cork, Ireland
Job type: Permanent / Full or Part-time
Sector and subsector: Medical & Healthcare Social Care / Social Worker
Hourly Salary Range: from €14.50 to €18.00

Purpose of Role: to provide a range of services to individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities and/or autism in a residential setting. All care is person centered and provides a holistic service in partnership with the person's circle of support.

Job Details

Shifts Available: 12-hour shifts (8:00-20:00 and 20:00-08:00)

Working Hours: A mixture of working hours are available and can be agreed at job offer stage. Flexibility for shift work may be required due to the 24/7 nature of the role.

Reporting Relationship: This post will report to the Team Lead

Job Title: Support Worker

Vetting: All applicants will be subject to reference checks, Garda Vetting and a request to provide security clearance from any country in which they resided for more than 6 months after their 16th birthday.

  • Minimum QQI Level 5 qualification in Health or Social Care or equivalent for a Support Worker role
  • Other relevant qualifications (e.g., Nursing, Addiction Studies, Teaching, Accredited Youth Training, Psychology) may be considered
  • Full clean driver's license

  • Experience in a Residential Setting
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and HIQA standards
  • Experience/knowledge of report writing and client support plans
Candidate Skills / Experience
  • Ability to support clients respectfully with their goals and needs at the center of every task
  • Understanding how to prevent and manage challenging behaviour
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Comfortable using essential information technology and providing reports
Main Duties / Responsibilities
  • Support service users with intellectual and physical disability, autism
  • Help users make sense of their environment, learn new skills, and maximise independence
  • Assist individuals with daily living activities
  • Support health and well-being, personal care including continence if required
  • Support individuals to live a meaningful life with equal citizenship
  • Enable participation and integration into the community
  • Act as an advocate for clients/residents
  • Involve clients in care/placement plan formulation and execution
  • Accompany service users to appointments and events
  • Assist service users with reduced mobility
  • Undertake duties as assigned by manager/team leader
  • Manage challenging behaviours with a positive behaviour support plan
  • Provide reports on client activities to management
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to care plan development
