Description

About LMH Oxford Summer Programmes LMH is looking to appoint a number of Residential Advisors to contribute to the practical organisation and running of the College's short academic summer programmes. LMH Oxford Summer Programmes are intensive courses of study for visiting students, consisting of lectures, seminars, and tutorials alongside a social and cultural programme of trips and activities.

Programme Dates:
  • Session 1: 28 June - 18 July 2026
  • Session 2: 19 July - 8 August 2026
  • Session 3: 9 August - 29 August 2026

Once appointed, Residential Advisors will need to be available for paid training days in late June.

The Role: Residential Advisor

Residential Advisors are live-in pastoral staff responsible for supporting the welfare and daily life of students during their stay at LMH. Residential Advisors create a welcoming and safe environment in the accommodation houses, act as the first point of contact for student wellbeing, and help deliver a smooth residential experience.

Working closely with Group Leaders and the Residential Manager, Residential Advisors ensure students feel supported and at home during their Oxford experience.

Reporting Lines

This role reports to the Commercial Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities Student Support
  • Build positive rapport with students and encourage participation
  • Respond to welfare concerns and elevate where needed
  • Conduct daily check-ins and be visible, approachable, and friendly
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive residential environment
  • Carry out regular site checks to ensure a safe, clean, and secure living and learning environment
  • Share important updates, rules, and programme announcements
Social & Cultural Programme Support
  • Attend and help supervise social and cultural events (on and off site)
  • Encourage students to participate and feel included in the wider community
Team Participation
  • Collaborate with other Residential Advisors, Group Leaders, Student Helpers and the Residential Manager
  • Attend all training sessions and team briefings
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented working culture
  • Maintain good communication with students and staff
Person Specification Essential
  • Friendly, empathetic, and approachable
  • Experience supporting peers or students in a welfare or residential context
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Responsible, reliable, and calm under pressure
  • Comfortable working long and flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Able to maintain appropriate personal professional boundaries with students
  • Culturally sensitive and inclusive
  • Right to work in the UK
Desirable
  • Ideally pursuing a post graduate qualification within the University of Oxford, or having just completed an undergraduate degree.
  • Previous experience in residential life, youth programmes, or safeguarding roles
Terms and Conditions Hours & Availability
  • Working hours are expected to be around 40 hours per week. A flexible attitude is required, as there will be evening and weekend work.
  • Paid training in late June (dates TBC)
