General Description:
The University of Surrey is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare within its School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative interdisciplinary research focused on applying artificial intelligence and data-driven methodologies to healthcare challenges.
The successful candidate will work within a collaborative research environment, contributing to projects that leverage AI, machine learning, and data analytics to improve healthcare delivery, diagnostics, and patient outcomes. The role involves developing novel computational models, analysing complex healthcare datasets, and collaborating with academic, clinical, and industry partners.
Responsibilities include conducting high-quality independent and collaborative research, contributing to grant-funded projects, publishing in leading academic journals, and presenting findings at conferences. The postholder will also support the development of research proposals and contribute to the broader academic mission of the institution.

Eligibility Criteria:
- A PhD (or near completion) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a closely related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in AI, machine learning, or data science research
- Experience working with healthcare or biomedical datasets (desirable)
- Strong publication record or evidence of research outputs
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organisational and project management skills
Required Expertise/Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python
- Experience with machine learning and deep learning frameworks
- Data analysis, modelling, and algorithm development
- Knowledge of healthcare data systems and standards (desirable)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Scientific writing and communication skills
- Ability to translate research into practical applications
Salary Details:
£37,099 to £44,263 per annum
