Research Fellow in AI-driven Medical Image Enhancement & Image Quality Transfer

About the role

Appointments will be within the newly created UCL Hawkes Institute and Department of Computer Science. The Hawkes Institute, launched in March, combines the UCL Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC) and the Wellcome/EPSRC Centre for Interventional and Surgical Sciences (WEISS). The location will be at 90 High Holborn, colocating Hawkes (formerly CMIC), UCL's AI Centre (AIC), and UCL's Advanced Research Computing Centre (ARC), creating a vibrant hub of data-science researchers focused on machine learning, AI technologies, and healthcare applications. The institute aims to develop next-generation low-field portable MRI scanners for research and clinical use in low-resource settings. The role involves developing AI technologies for image reconstruction from sparse data and image enhancement via mappings from low-field to high-field images, utilizing methods such as Image Quality Transfer.

About you

The candidate should have a minimum of an honours degree (2:1 or higher) and a PhD in a relevant discipline. Proven experience in the theory, development, and application of machine learning/AI tools relevant to this project is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a record of high-quality research publications are required.
