Job Description
Overview

Prime Video is changing the way millions of customers interact with video content. We're looking for a talented Video Codec Engineer to join our team in developing and optimizing video compression technologies for Prime Video's streaming infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • As a Codec Engineer at Prime Video, you'll work on encoder/decoder solutions that impact billions of streaming hours annually.
  • You'll collaborate with team members to optimize codec performance and implement effective video delivery solutions across various platforms.
  • Implement and optimize video compression algorithms.
  • Assist in benchmarking codec performance across different platforms.
  • Collaborate with team members on video quality assessment metrics and encoding algorithms.
  • Contribute to the integration of video processing workloads into the streaming infrastructure.
  • Help implement production-ready solutions.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Solid understanding of video coding standards (H.264, HEVC, AV1)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with video encoding optimization and profiling tools
  • Knowledge of video quality assessment and metrics
  • Familiarity with open-source video encoders and FFmpeg
  • Experience working on video processing systems
  • Experience with AI-assisted C/C++ code development
  • Interest in technical innovation and video coding standards
