Job Description
Position Overview

Applications are invited for a Research Associate in Mass Spectrometry to work under the supervision of Professor James SO McCullagh for a period of 3 years. The project involves the development and application of multiple mass spectrometry methods for detecting falsified and substandard vaccines, with particular focus on MALDI-TOF analysis. The role will involve interactions with multiple collaborative projects across departments and is funded by the MRC DPFS.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and apply mass spectrometry methods for the detection of falsified and substandard vaccines.
  • Collaborate with multiple projects across different departments.
  • Work closely with experienced doctoral and post doctoral researchers in the Department of Chemistry.
  • Liaise with colleagues in the Departments of Biochemistry and the Nuffield Department of Medicine.
  • Engage with stakeholders in academia and industry and foster international links.
Qualifications
  • Hold at least an undergraduate degree in Chemistry or a relevant subject area before taking up appointment.
  • Have experience in analytical chemistry.
  • Have previous experience working in mass spectrometry or similar analytical chemistry instrumentation and sample analysis.
