Job Description
General Description

The Department of Statistics at the University of Oxford is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to contribute to an active programme of research within the department. The position offers an opportunity to work in a leading academic environment renowned for excellence in statistical methodology, data science, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will support ongoing research activities by assisting with the development and implementation of statistical and computational methodologies, conducting data analysis, and contributing to the preparation of research outputs. The role involves collaborating closely with academic staff and research teams, supporting project deliverables, and assisting with the preparation of publications and reports. The post holder may also contribute to the broader research activities of the department, including maintaining research documentation, assisting with project coordination, and participating in seminars and collaborative discussions. Eligibility Criteria
  • A degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
  • Demonstrable academic or research experience relevant to statistical analysis, modelling, or data science.
  • Evidence of strong analytical and quantitative skills suitable for supporting advanced research activities.
Required Expertise/Skills
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and quantitative research methods.
  • Experience with statistical or programming tools commonly used in data analysis and computational research.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex datasets and present findings clearly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for academic collaboration and research dissemination.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in managing research tasks and documentation.
Salary Details

£35,681 to £41,636 per annum.
