Background

Research & Innovation Services (RIS) provides a professional support service for research and innovation
activities at City St George's. We operate a business partnering model to work with and support our six
academic Schools located across our Clerkenwell, Tooting and Moorgate campuses.
RIS is comprised of seven teams, covering the areas of pre award, post award, research & innovation
contracts, business engagement & knowledge exchange, intellectual property & commercialisation,
entrepreneurship and clinical research support.

Responsibilities

The Research and Innovation Contracts Manager is responsible for the drafting, coordination, review and negotiation of research and innovation agreements which City St George's enters into with a variety of different UK and overseas organisations and sectors - including charities, industry, government, NHS
organisations and universities. Service provision is key to the role, and the postholder will be responsible for providing professional, customer focussed support to researchers and external partners.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have substantial experience of drafting, reviewing and negotiating research
contracts, funding and collaboration agreements, and related agreements, in a university or related body,
along with knowledge and understanding of the issues relating to contracts in a university environment.
They will have excellent communication skills and experience of communicating to a variety of audiences,
together with excellent negotiation skills. They will be highly organised, with the ability to manage and prioritise
a mixed portfolio of work.
