Job Description
Job summary

Reporting Sonographer (minimum 3 years post graduate experience) to deliver community radiology services at Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital. Part time, 15 hours per week (Thursdays and Fridays 8 00). Work independently with support from an Image Support Worker. Must be proficient in general, gynaecological and small parts ultrasound; vascular scanning (DVT) an advantage.

Responsibilities
  • Perform ultrasound examinations in line with BMUS, NICE and NHS guidelines.
  • Prioritise and organise own caseload and appointment schedules.
  • Work autonomously within departmental protocols, making informed clinical decisions and seeking second opinion when required.
  • Prepare comprehensive diagnostic reports and return them to the referring clinician.
  • Accountable for professional actions, including reporting, and supervise and support junior staff.
  • Participate in CPD, peer review meetings and audit with external NHS providers.

  • Health and Care Professions Council Registration
Qualifications
  • Degree level qualification in radiography or equivalent professional radiography qualification.
  • Post graduate Certificate / Diploma / MSc in Medical Ultrasound.
Experience
  • Experienced Sonographer, minimum 3 years post graduate experience.
  • Advanced ultrasound clinical practice (e.g. MSK, vascular, interventional).
  • Experience supervising and training Sonographers and trainee Sonographers at M level.
  • Knowledge of IR(ME)R 2017.
  • Proficient use of PACS, RIS and CR Systems at key user level.
Skills and knowledge
  • Excellent communication, including persuasive, motivational, negotiating, empathic or reassurance skills.
  • Ability to interpret scans, diagnose and report accurately.
  • Audience specific communication in difficult or emotive situations.
  • Strong organisational ability to plan workload and appointment schedules.
  • IT competence to record and generate clinical observations.
  • Valid UK driver's licence.
  • Advanced ultrasound skills for independent caseload management.
  • Self directed clinical service delivery and decision making.
