Job Description

Repair Stress Engineer
Location: Bristol (minimum 60% onsite)
Duration: 6 months (with potential to extend)

Role Overview
Join a dynamic, fast-reacting team responsible for the analysis and justification of metallic and composite wing structures for static strength to support structural repairs using validated methods. You will ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations, relevant design principles, processes, and manufacturing capability guidelines. Your primary focus will be providing stress analysis for repair and acceptance of damaged aircraft structures, working closely with Design and F&DT engineers within challenging timeframes.

This team provides tailored and optimal repair solutions in response to damage reports, ensuring operator schedules are maintained and aircraft downtime is minimised. We enjoy tackling all types of wing structure damage, delivering repairs wherever and whenever needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform static strength analysis for repairs using approved industry methods and tools

  • Create, compile, and coordinate static strength justification reports and associated engineering documentation

  • Plan, monitor, and execute all tasks required for Repair Engineering to meet customer deadlines

  • Collaborate with Repair Design and F&DT engineers to develop optimum repair solutions

Skill Set

Essential

  • Aerospace Engineering background with experience in airframe repair development and justification

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, high-quality environment

  • Team player focused on solving complex technical challenges and delivering efficient results

  • Aerospace Engineering degree (or equivalent) with relevant experience

  • Experience in static analysis of aircraft structures using both hand calculations and computer methods

  • Strong understanding of static stress analysis fundamentals and ability to develop these methods

  • Knowledge and experience using industry-recognised static strength analysis tools (including ISAMI and Mathcad or equivalents)

  • Experience compiling static strength justification reports to industry standards and working practices

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)


Desirable

  • Familiarity with technical requirements for repair design

  • Working knowledge of commercial aircraft wing structures

  • Some exposure to finite element analysis (FEA) methods

  • Previous experience in a stress engineering role, preferably in the aerospace sector

  • Delegated authority or progress toward delegated signature for structural analysis

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills in a technical engineering context
