Job Description
Renewable Energy Contracts Manager - 14-month fixed-term contract

At Thames Water, we supply 2.6 billion litres of water to over 16 million customers. We are hiring a Renewable Energy Contracts Manager to support our Energy & Carbon team, managing contracts that align with Thames Water's hedging strategy and budget planning.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead the management of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) from tender through to delivery.
  • Oversee contracts for behind the meter generation (e.g. solar), biomethane export, and demand flexibility schemes.
  • Act as the key stakeholder contact for Thames Water's current PPAs, ensuring effective operation.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Energy & Carbon Management team on projects that reduce energy use, costs, and carbon emissions.
  • Maintain robust contract monitoring, compliance, reporting, and performance tracking.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise agreements, mitigate risks, and deliver financial and operational benefits.

Hybrid - Clearwater Court, RG1 8DB

Working hours

36 hours, Monday to Friday

What you should bring Essential experience
  • Proven track record in managing and delivering complex contracts, with strong knowledge of contract compliance.
  • Experience in contract negotiation, identifying financial and legal risks.
  • Excellent commercial acumen, with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel/Office skills, able to analyse, interpret, and present data clearly.
  • Strong problem solving skills, able to deliver effective solutions under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication skills, building relationships at all levels.
Desirable experience
  • Previous experience in the energy industry.
  • Knowledge of energy contract management and procurement of PPAs.
  • Power BI capabilities.
  • Project Management qualifications.
