Situated at the entrance to Market Hall Museum our Visitor Services team cover both our busy café and gift shop, serving a wide range of customers, from tourists and families to local residents.
At Market Hall Café customers can drink in or take away a Monsoon Estates Coffee or try our speciality Golden Monkey teas whilst enjoying our menu of cakes, paninis, sandwiches, toasties.
The Market Hall Shop sells a varied range of products, including local beekeeper's honey, toys, fossils, handcrafted soaps, greeting cards, and souvenirs.
The RoleThis role mainly covers our busy café. Day to day you will help the team set up the café indoor and outdoor spaces and open the museum for the day ahead. Daily tasks will include preparing food and drink, serving customers, and promoting our offers such as our best-selling cream teas. You'll also cover tasks such as cleaning the workspaces, receiving deliveries and ensuring records are kept accurate.
Occasionally you may be asked to cover a shift in our shop. In this role you will be welcoming visitors to the shop and museum and starting friendly conversations. Confident in engaging visitors on the shop floor rather than relying on till based interaction, you'll enjoy actively recommending shop products.
The objective of the team is to help make visits to Market Hall Museum even more memorable, whilst generating vital income for the museum service.
The CandidateWe're looking for someone who has experience working in a customer service environment. This role is well suited to someone who is confident working within a team and independently, with a practical, flexible approach. You will enjoy speaking to customers and delivering excellent customer service. Good levels of numeracy and literacy are essential to this role.
Relief Visitor Services Assistant - Market Hall Café & ShopRelief Visitor Services Assistants work on an ad hoc basis to cover staff holidays, absence, and extra activities at the museum.
Shifts will be offered monthly when available. This role will include working Saturdays. Our opening hours are 10am - 5pm Tuesday - Saturday.
The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. The Fluency Duty for this role is Required. You must be able to speak and provide advice with accurate spoken English to the public.
