The Release Manager role at the Student Loans Company (SLC) focuses on overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of software releases, particularly the migration of the CLASS system to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This position involves managing releases in a regulated, multi-supplier environment to ensure safe and compliant delivery with minimal service disruption. The role requires collaboration with development, testing, infrastructure, and business teams throughout the release life cycle.
* Release planning and execution: The Release Manager defines and manages the release calendar aligned with project milestones, coordinates releases across multiple suppliers and teams, facilitates planning sessions, and owns the full release life cycle from development through production. They also chair readiness and review meetings and ensure compliance with change governance and assurance frameworks.
* Risk management and stakeholder communication: Responsibilities include identifying and mitigating release risks, managing incidents, ensuring rollback plans, and acting as the central contact point. The manager communicates release plans and outcomes clearly to both business and technical stakeholders.
Essential skills include experience in release and change management, SDLC and Agile/DevOps practices, release tools, and strong organizational and communication abilities.
Desirable skills cover cloud environments, ITIL frameworks, CI/CD automation, and infrastructure knowledge.
The role is based out of Glasgow and the candidate is expected to attend office 3 days in a week.
