Job Description

Assistant Practitioner Community Therapy Service

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Practitioner to join our dynamic therapy team. This role is ideal for an experienced Physiotherapy/Rehabilitation Assistant who wants to expand their knowledge base and drive forward standards of excellence and patient care.

The successful candidate will work alongside Advanced Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and other Band 4 Assistant Practitioners in a highly experienced and forward thinking multidisciplinary team within adult rehabilitation specialties, including neurological rehabilitation. The team works closely with Specialist Nursing teams for MS and PD across the county. The service is delivered by a county wide multidisciplinary community rehabilitation team based in Northampton, Wellingborough and Kettering. We see out patients at these units and other sites and visit patients in their own homes depending on their needs. We also run various exercise groups for patients, which Band 4 Assistant Practitioners assist in running and organising with qualified staff.

Main duties of the job
  • Manage own caseload of patients, assessing, treating and discharging patients within a defined group.
  • Work within a specialised client group.
  • Plan individualised care programmes within the tested areas of competency.
  • Provide treatments within a variety of clinical settings, including group sessions/classes.
  • When appropriate, provide care in patients' own homes.

Person specification
  • Minimum of 2 years NHS/Private Healthcare organisation experience at least Band 3 level.
  • Knowledge and Experience of working in a team of Allied Healthcare Professionals specifically Physiotherapists or Occupational Therapists.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent.
  • Full UK Driving Licence with access to a car for community work.
  • Knowledge of MDT working.
  • Experience of working in a rehabilitation setting at Band 3 Level or above.
