Job Description

We operate a bilingual policy. All applicants are invited to apply in Welsh, any application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application made in English.

Looking for a role that's meaningful, people focused and full of variety? Then this is the job for you.

About the role

We are looking to recruit a confident, enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our friendly team to help deliver an efficient and customer focused registration service.

The successful candidate will initially register marriages and civil partnerships before progressing in due course to undertake other duties including conducting ceremonies and registering births and deaths.

In this varied and rewarding role you will be working with members of the public at key moments in their lives, and no two days are the same.

About you

A registration officer must have excellent customer care skills, be able to work accurately with meticulous attention to detail and also have a high level of computer literacy. Previous experience of working within a registration service is not a requirement as full and ongoing training will be given.

Due to the expectations of the role, it is essential that the successful candidate is able to communicate fluently in Welsh and English.

The successful candidate will be required to attend ceremonies at various locations throughout Ceredigion, therefore they must provide their own transport.

It is expected that the successful candidate will also be regularly available to work on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays on a rota basis depending on the needs of the service - for which additional payment will be made for these extra hours. To assist the smooth running of the service, they will be asked to confirm their availability at least a month in advance.

Interviews will be held on the 20th of May, 2026.

Note: We reserve the right to extend the application closing date.

We are committed to safeguarding and protecting children and adults at risk. As part of this commitment, certain roles within our organisation require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to assess the suitability of candidates. This role will require an Enhanced DBS check. Please note that the presence of previous convictions will not necessarily disqualify a candidate from consideration for this position. We assess each applicant on a case by case basis, and take into account the nature and relevance of any convictions in relation to the responsibilities of the role. Our goal is to create an inclusive and supportive work environment where all individuals are treated fairly and with respect.
