Matrix Providers is hiring a Registered Nurse猶ediatric Inpatient Unit to join our team of talented professionals providing healthcare services to Military Service Members and their families at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth VA.

  • Employment Status: Full Time
  • Compensation: This is a salaried position, paid bi-weekly.
  • Schedule: Shifts will normally be scheduled for an eight and half (8.5) or nine (9) hour period.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience as an RN (one (1) year must be in a pediatric clinical/inpatient setting) within the last three (3) years.
  • Certifications: Successfully complete Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse as required in the TO.

Job Summary:

  • Make independent nursing practice decisions to plan, organize, develop, and implement methods of providing quality nursing care/nursing service in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Maintain liaison with allied health care professionals and community referral services. Coordinate patient health care needs with appropriate referrals as indicated.
  • Maintain link with professional organizations and nursing standards relevant to pediatric care. Implement nursing care in the inpatient setting using these standards.
  • Liaison with appropriate inpatient and ambulatory care units as an advocate for continuity of care planning, follow-up, and outcome measurement.
  • Promote health maintenance and preventive health initiatives in caring for patients in the ambulatory setting.
  • Provide technical guidance to paraprofessional nursing staff.
  • The primary service location will be in the Pediatric Inpatient Unit of the Pediatrics Department. Services may also be provided in other areas of the Pediatrics Department in response to patient population and workload.
  • Administer and dispose of chemotherapy and biotherapy substances and supplies according to relevant standards and policies.
