Primary FunctionResponsible for rendering professional nursing services, either directly or indirectly, for a defined group of patients according to the hospital's philosophy of patient care.
Job Qualifications and SpecificationsICU Registered Nurses are expected to have:
- I.V. certification
- The ability to recognize all significant cardiac arrhythmias
- A clear understanding of symptoms and clinical findings for myocardial infarction and its complications
- An understanding of the needs of critically-ill medical and surgical patients
- A thorough knowledge of the psychological and medical needs of patients and the importance of maintaining a noise and anxiety-free environment
- Competence in operating all resuscitation equipment
- BLS certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) completion; new graduates will complete ACLS within one year of hire
- Knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring and basic intra-aortic balloon pumping
- Attendance and completion of yearly competency assessments
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- RI state RN licensure
