Registered Nurse, Intensive Care Unit

Primary Function: Responsible for rendering professional nursing services, either directly or indirectly, for a defined group of patients according to the hospital's philosophy of patient care.
Job Qualifications and Specifications: ICU Registered Nurses are expected to have:
- I.V. certification
- The ability to recognize all significant cardiac arrhythmia
- A clear understanding of symptoms and clinical findings for myocardial infarction and its complications
- An understanding of the needs of the critically-ill medical and surgical patient
- A thorough knowledge of the psychological as well as the medical needs of the patient and the need to maintain an environment free from noise and anxiety
- Competence in the operation of all resuscitation equipment
- BLS certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) completion. New graduates will complete ACLS within one year of hire
- Knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring and basics for Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumping
- Attendance and completion of yearly competency fair
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- RI state RN licensure
