Matrix Providers is hiring a Registered Nurse-Department of Surgery (subspeciality Pediatric Surgery Clinic) to join our team of talented professionals providing healthcare services to Military Service Members and their families at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth VA.
- Employment Status: Full Time
- Compensation: This is a salaried position, paid bi-weekly.
- Schedule: Shifts will normally be scheduled for an eight and half (8.5) or nine (9) hour period.

Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Experience: Possess a minimum experience of one (1) year within the last two (2) years as an RN working in a hospital-based surgical outpatient clinic, pediatric clinical setting or inpatient setting.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support. Board Certification
- Licensure: Possess and maintain certification as a lactation consultant and Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse as required in the TO.
Job Summary:
- Make independent nursing practice decisions to plan, organize, develop, and implement methods of providing quality nursing care/nursing service in an ambulatory care setting.
- Maintain liaison with allied health care professionals and community referral services. Coordinate patient health care needs with appropriate referrals as indicated.
- Maintain nursing standards relevant to ambulatory care. Implement nursing care in the ambulatory setting using these standards.
- Collaborate in the technical support to paraprofessional nursing staff. Possess knowledge of basic management theory as applicable to the ambulatory care setting.
- Provide nursing care for patients of all ages with medical and/or surgical problems in the ambulatory setting as applicable.
- The primary service location will be in the Pediatric Surgery Clinic of the Department of Surgery. On occasion due to workload, and staffing shortages the health care worker (HCW) may be required to work in an alternate outpatient clinic with a different patient population within the Department of Surgery at the direction of the immediate or acting supervisor and/or Department Chair.
