We are looking to recruit a Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse to join Shakespeare Ward, an 18 bedded female acute mental health inpatient ward based at The Harbour. Shakespeare Ward supports women experiencing acute mental health crises and provides short term, therapeutic inpatient care. This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering safe, compassionate, and recovery focused care in a busy acute setting.
Main duties of the jobAs a Band 5 Nurse on Shakespeare Ward, you will work as part of the nursing team to deliver safe and effective care in line with Trust policies and professional standards. The role involves caring for patients who may present with high levels of distress and risk, requiring sound clinical judgement, good communication skills, and a compassionate approach.
You will be supported through induction, supervision, appraisal, and ongoing development and will be encouraged to build your skills and confidence within acute inpatient mental health nursing.

Job responsibilitiesShakespeare Ward is based at The Harbour in Blackpool, a modern inpatient mental health facility. The ward has a strong focus on recovery focused care, safety, dignity, and therapeutic engagement, working closely with the wider MDT to support patients during periods of acute mental distress. We are committed to creating a supportive working environment that values teamwork, learning, and staff wellbeing. Person Specification Qualifications- Registered Mental Health Nurse Qualification. (RNMH & RNLD) or a student nurse nearing qualification
- Can demonstrate an understanding and knowledge base of mental health conditions and their treatments
- Can demonstrate a working knowledge of physical health conditions and the complications that this can cause to patients experiencing mental ill health
- Experience of working within a multi disciplinary team structure
- Experience of assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing care needs
- Developed clinical nursing skills with a clear ability to understand new concepts and ideas in clinical practice
- Can provide evidence of recent continued professional development within the scope of nursing
