Job Description
Job Title 
Regional Safety and Security Officer (RSSO), Grade HEO.
LocationScotland - can be based at any HMCTS site in Scotland, with occasional travel within the country.
Key Responsibilities- Advise and support Delivery Directors and Senior Operational Managers on Health and Safety, security, and fire safety matters, identifying risks and ensuring compliance.
- Conduct incident and accident investigations, produce lessons learned and mitigate future incidents.
- Carry out Fire Risk Assessments and conduct Health and Safety and Security inspections and audits.
- Provide specialist advice and act as the region's first point of contact for all security and safety matters with managers, staff, judicial office holders, and justice partners.
- Facilitate training on security and safety matters, including Fire and Incident Control Training.
- Experience or basic knowledge of Health and Safety, Fire Safety or Security policies, strategies, and systems.
- Proven ability to conduct thorough investigations and audits with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to plan ahead, identifying and solving problems proactively.
- Experience in operational delivery, managing safety and security incidents at local or regional levels.
- Interpersonal, consultative, and negotiating skills, with ability to persuade and influence senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, conveying complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Specialist Health and Safety qualification - minimum NEBOSH General Certificate and membership of relevant professional institutes (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Security Institute, Institution of Fire Engineers, Institute of Fire Safety Managers).
- Knowledge of British Standards on Fire Safety, notably BS 9999, BS 9997 and the Fire Safety Order 2005.
- PAS79 Fire Risk Assessor training/accreditation and National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) protective security training.
Security Check (SC) clearance is required.
Working HoursMinimum of 30 hours over 5 days per week, with flexible working across geographical areas.
