Job Description
Overview

Regional Enviroment Manager, EAP Field Operations is responsible for collaborating with regional and site operations leadership teams, Workplace Health and Safety, RME-Facilities, and other site level teams to execute company environmental procedures and ensure compliance with all National, Prefectural and Local regulations in Japan. The role will ensure strategy and operational tactics are executed across JP business, Fulfillment Center (FC), and Amazon Glossary Logistics (AGL) sites in Japan, providing technical support for existing operations and future expansion in a fast-paced, multi-facility environment. The individual will instruct and guide Site teams and Operations Leaders on company environmental standards and procedures and help site teams incorporate compliant environmental processes at their sites. This role is based in Tokyo and reports directly to the JP Environmental Program Manager. The candidate should possess strong program and environmental regulatory knowledge and act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) when partnering with teams and stakeholders in Japan. Proficiency in English and Japanese (verbal and written) is preferred.

Key job responsibilities
  • Possess a thorough understanding of local and national environmental regulations and Amazon company standards.
  • Monitor country's performance against applicable environmental regulations, programs and procedures.
  • Undertake regular site visits and provide guidance & training to facilitate site-level compliance (must be willing to travel within Japan, up to 60%).
  • Set up environmental regulatory tasks in the company environmental management system.
  • Provide environmental oversight and technical guidance to other JP cross-functional teams.
  • Create and implement JP Country Level Environmental procedures to ensure operational strategy is delivered and that key elements of other critical functional processes are aligned to achieve continual environmental performance.
  • Partner with environmental critical functions such as Dangerous Goods, Product Compliance, Retail, Engineering, Operations, Facilities, Procurement, and Learning and Development to ensure information on environmental standards and procedures is communicated, implemented and executed.
  • Conduct thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop corrective actions for network implementation.
  • Support business change through effective influencing of change management processes within JP operations.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Basic qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience as an environmental (or EHS) professional
  • Business level English
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Experience handling confidential information
Preferred qualifications
  • Advanced degree or professional certification in environmental (or EHS-related field)
  • ISO 14000 or equivalent auditing experience preferred
  • Experience leading change in multiple site environments and ability to influence those who are not direct reports
  • Experience in a fast-paced, changing/growing organization is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Proven track record of sound decision making, ownership, and delivering results
  • Commitment to working in a diverse and inclusive culture
  • Experience with SQL and Excel
