Job Description
Job Overview

Recycling Centre Site Operative - Kirby le Soken. Operate as an operational field based worker in partnership with the Essex Waste Service, supporting various recycling centres across Essex County Council.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the public with questions, queries and complaints.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and risk free site.
  • Provide clear instructions to subcontractors and hauliers.
  • Operate plant machinery and oversee waste movements.
  • Ensure proper storage of materials for optimal recycling.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Contribute to safe and efficient site operations.
  • Support the team with administrative tasks as required.
  • Work at alternative recycling centres when necessary.
Essential Qualifications
  • Ability to work on foot for lengthy periods.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in a customer facing role.
  • Ability to perform manual handling tasks.
  • Basic reading and writing skills.
  • Willingness to learn new systems.
  • Willingness to complete required training (e.g. First Aid, Plant Operator, Fire Marshall).
Desirable Qualifications
  • Full driving licence.
  • Computer literate (especially Microsoft Excel and Outlook) with good administration skills.
  • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent safety accreditation.
  • NPORS or similar plant operator licence/qualification on Material Handler, with experience operating plant machinery preferably within the waste industry.

Location & Salary

Kirby le Soken, Essex. Part time, annualised hours (minimum of 7.4 hours per week). Salary up to £25,959 per annum (full time equivalent).
