Job Description
Reception/Year 1 Teacher - Part time, long term temporary and ongoing role starting August 2026

The school provides a supportive and well structured learning environment where pupils benefit from positive relationships, clear routines, and consistent teaching. Behaviour is calm and purposeful, and pupils show positive attitudes to learning. Staff work collaboratively to ensure children feel safe, supported, and able to make steady progress across early years and Key Stage 1.

Duties as Reception/Year 1 Teacher:
  • Teach a Reception/Year 1 class on a part time basis
  • Deliver engaging lessons aligned with EYFS and KS1 expectations
  • Support early literacy, phonics, numeracy, and play based learning
  • Maintain consistent routines and positive behaviour approaches
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet varied developmental needs, including SEND
  • Assess pupil progress and provide appropriate feedback
  • Work collaboratively with EYFS and KS1 colleagues
  • Contribute to planning and assessment as part of the teaching team
  • Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil welfare
Ideal Reception/Year 1 Teacher:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching in EYFS and/or KS1
  • Confident supporting mixed age classes
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Warm, nurturing, and proactive teaching approach
  • Reflective and adaptable to part time working patterns
  • Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting pupil well being
