Job Description

Oakwood Primary Academy is looking to recruit a committed Receptionist and Administrative Assistant on a fixed term, term time only basis to support our school community.

This is a varied and rewarding role. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for visitors, parents and pupils, providing a warm and professional welcome while ensuring the smooth day to day running of the school office.

Qualifications

GCSE Maths and English grade 4 9 (A C) or equivalent essential

Current first aid qualification (or willing to work towards) essential

NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in relevant discipline or willingness to work towards desirable

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge

Ability to use language and other communication skills that pupils can understand and relate to essential

Ability to demonstrate active listening skills essential

Ability to utilise ICT effectively and efficiently in your work essential

Excellent numerical skills, to undertake a variety of tasks, e.g. collecting monies and maintaining accounts for school activities essential

Ability to communicate effectively with parents, carers and other professionals, both verbally and in writing essential

Keen eye for detail, with an ability to produce work of a high standard of quality and accuracy essential

Ability to remain calm and patient under pressure, whilst working to deadlines essential

Ability to work effectively and supportively as a member of the school team essential

Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner essential

Ability to create and maintain an appropriate environment which ensures the safety of all users of the school essential

Working knowledge of school management information systems

Experience

Previous experience of reception work essential

Previous experience of undertaking a range of administrative duties essential

Experience of working as part of a team essential

Experience of working in a school environment

Experience of establishing positive relationships with young people and families in diverse communities

Experience/Knowledge

Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the legal and organisational requirements for maintaining health, safety, and security of yourself and others essential
