Receptionist (Probation Service Band 2)
Location: National Probation Service Unity House, 14-16 New Street, West Bromwich Ringway, West Bromwich, West Midlands, B70 7PQ.
- Pay rate: £12.71
- Working pattern: Monday to Friday, 37 hours
- Assignment length: 4 months from start, with possible extension
- Start timing: Once vetting has returned (possibly around 8 weeks for processing)
- Clearance level: NPS Enhanced Vetting (cost covered by the hiring process)
- Training: On the job
If you're organised, calm under pressure, and confident working with sensitive information, this is a great opportunity to become the reassuring face of a busy probation service. You'll support day-to-day operations, help people feel welcomed, and keep records and communications running smoothly.
What you'll be doing:- Maintain and update databases and case files with accuracy
- Handle communications via phone, email, and in-person enquiries
- Provide reception cover and support meetings and visitors
- Liaise with internal teams and external agencies to keep processes moving
- Support enforcement and safeguarding processes
- Uphold confidentiality, equality, and health & safety standards at all times
- Comfortable handling sensitive and confidential information
- A confident, professional demeanour-steady and approachable with people
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work 37 hours per week, 9-5 fully onsite, with a late night once a month (usually a Wednesday, 12:00pm-7:00pm)
