Job Description

Bridgewater Surgeries are looking to recruit a reliable, professional and patient-focused GP Receptionist to join our busy and friendly team.

This role is for 30 hours per week, worked over 5 days, with a mixture of morning and afternoon shifts. Shifts are 6 hours long, with:

  • AM shifts starting at 7:00am
  • PM shifts starting at 1:00pm

The role will involve working across all 4 practice sites.

This is a busy and fast-paced position with a significant amount of telephone work. The successful candidate will need to be confident managing a high volume of calls while also dealing with patient enquiries at reception and completing administrative duties.

  • Previous GP or NHS experience desirable but not essential

Main duties of the job
  • Answering a high volume of patient telephone calls
  • Booking and managing appointments
  • Greeting and assisting patients at reception
  • Processing patient enquiries and administrative tasks
  • Working closely with clinical and administrative teams
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Job summary

Receive, assist and direct patients in person or via phone in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Ensure that enquiries from patients are efficiently handled.

Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Reception
  • Process appointment requests from patients by telephone and in person.
  • Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
  • Handling repeat prescriptions.
  • Deal with visits requests ensuring they are entered on computer with the patient records.
Administration
  • To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures.
  • To work in accordance of written protocols.
  • Pulling/filing notes as necessary.
  • Photocopying as requested.
  • Dealing with post.
Other Tasks
  • Clear and stock rooms after surgeries.
  • Ensure building security and have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
  • Any other tasks allocated by managers.
Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Team player
  • GCSE grade C or above
  • Full training will be given to applicants with relevant transferable skills
Experience
  • Previous experience working in a GP Practice
  • Knowledge of SystmOne clinical system
