Job Description
Job Overview

A permanent, full-time Receptionist will join the UPP team onsite at Reading University. The role works 37.5 hours per week between 8.30am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday. The salary is £25,589 per annum.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver a professional reception service for residents and the office team.
  • Maintain accurate records for visitors, contractors, key issue/return, and parking permits.
  • Liaise with the university client, sub contractors, UPP RSL staff, and residents as necessary.
  • Assist managers with coordination of on site activities and day to day administration.
  • Operate a computerised property management database to monitor reactive work and planned maintenance.
  • Support fire safety compliance through weekly alarm testing, logging activations/incidents, and reporting near misses.
  • Assist with mailroom operations, ensuring accurate recording, sorting, distribution, and compliance audits.
  • Manage and monitor out of hours access, ensuring adherence to fire, health & safety, and residence procedures.
  • Support marketing and engagement initiatives, including Open Days, accommodation show rounds, and promotion of incentives to maximise occupancy.
  • Provide resident enquiries support, pre arrival information, and ongoing assistance.
  • Assist procurement of goods and services via the purchase system, including producing purchase orders and processing invoices.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a similar front of house or receptionist role.
  • Strong communication and administration skills.
  • Comfortable working with databases and spreadsheets.
  • Passion for working as part of a team, being helpful and welcoming to students, staff and visitors.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when required, particularly during main student arrival and departure weekends.
  • Successful completion of satisfactory vetting, including employment references and, if necessary, a basic DBS check.
