The role is 15.5 hours per week following the pattern: Mondays 8.00-13.00, Thursdays 8.00-13.00 and Fridays 8.00-13.30
As a receptionist, you will receive, assistand direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcareprofessional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
You will also provide generalassistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image topatients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Main duties of the job- The role includes the following competencies:

- - Receiving and recording information from telephone calls and emails in line with protocols
- - Distribution of information to the practice staff
- - Registration of new patients
- - Signposting patients to appropriate services
- - Processing prescription requests and queries

We are a long established and innovative GP Practicewith a current list size of 5,600 patients and we are located in the WorldHeritage site of Ironbridge, Telford. The practice is a patient-focusedtraining and teaching practice with a strong ethos of providing excellent careto our patients. We comprise 3 GP Partners, a salaried GP, a dedicated nursing team and anexperienced reception/admin team.
Job responsibilities- Customer service, including telephone, written and face to face encounters
- Maintaining patient records including accurate data input into the clinical system (EMIS)
- Operating the patient appointment system, booking and cancelling appointments, finding appropriate appointments to meet the patient needs
- Responding appropriately during medical incidents following practice protocols accordingly
- Receiving and recording information from telephone calls and emails in line with protocols ensuring that appropriate action is taken
- Distribution of information to the practice staff to ensure good communication is in place
- Post handling in accordance with practice protocols including clinical letters and general practice post
- Registration of new patients and welcoming new patients to the practice, ensuring they have all the information that they need
- Signposting patients to appropriate services to ensure the best use of practice appointments according to patients' needs
- Processing prescription requests and queries from patients and pharmacy staff
- Supporting clinical staff and management team as required to ensure the smooth and effective running of the practice
- Working effectively as a committed team member, supporting colleagues and providing sickness and leave cover as needed
- Good level of general education, no specific qualifications required
- AMSPAR medical receptionist certificate or similar training
- Use of EMIS clinical computer system
- Worked and adhered to protocols within a previous role
- Worked in an environment where there has been a need for an understanding and adherence to the concept of strict confidentiality
