SYSTEMS DEVELOPER - High Performance Trading Infrastructure

London - Hybrid

£100,000-150,000 + bonus

Quant Capital is recruiting on behalf of a leading global quant investment firm seeking a Systems Developer to join its high-impact technology group in London. This role is part of a core engineering team focused on building and maintaining the backbone infrastructure supporting high-performance trading and large-scale research.

In this hands-on role, you will gain significant exposure to distributed systems, high-throughput computing, and low-latency infrastructure. You'll work on complex technical challenges that directly influence the firm's ability to process data and execute strategies at scale.

Role Responsibilities

As a member of the core systems engineering team, you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain large-scale compute and storage systems used across trading and research functions
  • Work on the architecture and implementation of distributed workload scheduling, fleet orchestration, and performance tuning across a large server estate
  • Build internal tools for managing system performance, reliability, and software lifecycles (SDLC)
  • Tackle performance bottlenecks across kernel, file system, and network layers to support low-latency, high-throughput applications
  • Contribute to infrastructure monitoring, data collection pipelines, and real-time analytics
  • Collaborate across teams to align system design with evolving trading and research requirements

Skills and Experience:

  • A strong interest in how systems work under the hood, paired with a practical, engineering-first mindset
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience (up to 5 years)
  • Solid programming ability in one or more of the following: Python, Golang, Rust, or similar
  • Experience with Linux-based environments and knowledge of networking fundamentals is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to operate in a collaborative, high-performance environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities
  • Curiosity, initiative, and the ability to take ownership of complex problems matter more than specific prior industry experience

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, technically rigorous environment where your work has real impact on performance and results. The team values creativity, deep technical curiosity, and the ability to solve hard problems collaboratively. The environment is that of a technology firm but within a high stake, high reward trading environment.
