About the Project
Hinkley Point C (HPC) is one of Europe's most significant low-carbon energy infrastructure projects. The project is structured into six programmes of work, supported by a Quality Department responsible for ensuring that robust quality assurance and control processes are implemented throughout engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and construction activities.

The Quality Management Team plays a critical role as the 'Intelligent Customer', overseeing supply chain quality arrangements and their effective execution. The Quality Management Lead (QML) works under the leadership of the Quality Management Manager and the relevant Quality Delivery Manager (QDM) for each programme.

Role Overview
The Quality Management Lead (QML) is responsible for managing the implementation and monitoring of quality arrangements across assigned contracts or work packages. The QML will coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and inspection agencies to ensure quality expectations are met and risks are managed effectively. Allocation of work will be based on a competence-based assessment and may span multiple programmes depending on business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities

  • Support the development and rollout of QA/QC arrangements across the organisation

  • Implement quality management processes such as supplier assessment, manufacturing surveillance, non-conformance handling, and quality certification

  • Take action to resolve quality issues and support ongoing improvement initiatives

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review, accept, and oversee the implementation of Contractors' Quality Assurance Plans (CQAPs)

  • Identify audit requirements and engage with auditors to resolve findings

  • Develop Project Quality Control Plans (PQCPs) in line with contract expectations

  • Ensure appropriate implementation of quality documents, including GQAS, LTQR specifications, and ITPs

  • Provide guidance to contractors on QA documentation, LTQR strategy, and quality deliverables

  • Lead LTQR reviews and support progressive records delivery

  • Manage relationships with external inspection bodies (e.g. EDF Direction Industrielle)

  • Oversee contract-level manufacturing surveillance and inspection planning

  • Review supplier-submitted ITPs and ensure distribution to relevant internal reviewers

  • Track and report on inspection hold and witness points as required

  • Coordinate document review processes and lead joint inspections when necessary

  • Support management and resolution of non-conformances and corrective actions

  • Review and approve End of Manufacturing, Construction, and Erection Status Reports

  • Deliver final manufacturing records and quality release documentation

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Implement the Quality Execution Plan across the programme

  • Ensure QA/QC requirements are embedded in tender documentation

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with quality processes and standards

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in project delivery with a focus on quality management, preferably in the nuclear sector or other highly regulated industries

  • Strong understanding of QA/QC practices across the full project lifecycle

  • Proven ability to influence, challenge, and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Competent in data analysis and reporting

  • Skilled in guiding suppliers and project teams through quality processes

  • Proactive and self-motivated with strong planning and organisational skills

  • Fluent in English and French

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of nuclear new build environments

  • Understanding of site licence conditions and regulatory frameworks

  • Familiarity with pressure codes, welding standards, and NDT/NDE methodologies

Essential Qualifications:

  • HNC/HND or degree in an engineering or science discipline

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering quality outcomes in safety-critical environments

  • Leadership experience in quality roles within large-scale projects

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Chartered status or working towards Chartered Quality Institute membership

  • Exposure to supplier management and commercial QA oversight

  • Experience in interacting with regulators such as ONR
