Job Description
Quality Inspector

Location: Kent / Essex border

Salary: up to £35,000

Our client is looking for a Skilled Aerospace Quality Inspector this role is located on the Kent / Essex border. Please note this is a full-time role but over a 4 day week.

Quality Inspector Duties
  • To maintain quality control within the manufacturing process, in line with business standards and customer requirements.
  • Inspection of all manufactured parts in line with the manufacturing routing and quality plans as laid out in the Quality Management System (QMS), processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for all Calibration, Testing, Qualification, and associated Approvals.
  • Responsible for assisting in inspection activities.
  • Consistent and confident use of broad range of measurement tools and programming of CMM (Laser Measurement Machine).
  • Assist in FAIR / LAIR compilation and approving.
  • Responsible for the approval status of the associated test equipment and activities.
  • Responsible for product Release.
  • Assisting in technical reviews as required and liaising with the team.
  • To contribute to the quality system maintenance in accordance with the requirement of ISO 9001:2008 / AS 9100 and is subject to regular audits and reviews.
  • Participate in meetings with the Manufacturing Team.
  • Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout manufacturing showcasing continuous Improvement and 5S Mind set.
  • Ensure adherence to manufacturing routing, product traceability and batch control has been carried out.
  • Ensure the correct use of calibrated measurement systems for the purposes of inspection of product and carry out gauge R&Rs as directed by QMS.
  • Monitor and report on subcontract performance as directed.
  • Monitor scrap and rework in line with quality plans and report.
Quality inspector Requirements
  • Experienced in an engineering sector, ideally aerospace.
  • Measurement skills utilising a broad range of measurement systems which can include, but not limited to Handheld gauges, ring, plugs, micrometres, callipers, shadowgraphs, slips, CMM, height gauges, torque load testers, tensile testing machines, surface comparators.
  • Calibration knowledge and practice of calibrating handheld equipment to Aerospace QMS standards.
  • Associated calibration database and record keeping.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Aerospace Testing - mechanical (hardness / UTS / Proof load / Torque.).
  • Solid technical background and experience in inspection and testing techniques.
  • Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings and specification.
  • Familiar with auditing procedures and recent First Article Experience.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of Quality and or Aerospace Standards (ISO 9000, AS9100, EASA Part 21, EASA Part 145).
  • Problem Solving Skills within an engineering environment - preferably 8D.
  • Continuous Improvement and 5S Mind set.
  • Effective communicator at all levels both verbal and written.
  • Strong initiative and time management skills, able to balance priorities confidently with minimum supervision.
  • Attention to detail, including numeracy.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure the implementation of the company's policies and goals.
