Job Title: QC Technician
Location: Kildare, Ireland
Our client is a well-established company in the food and beverage industry. For over 50 years, the company has specialised in processing high-quality fruit juices, fruit concentrates, juice blends, and spray-dried powder formulations used across a wide range of food and beverage applications.
The company is currently seeking a Quality Control (QC) Technician to join its laboratory team in Kildare. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine laboratory testing on raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet quality and safety standards. The role involves supporting laboratory operations, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with quality systems, including HACCP, GMP, and GLP.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform routine quality control testing on incoming raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Prepare standards and reference materials for comparison with production samples.
- Evaluate incoming raw material samples to ensure compliance with established specifications.
- Conduct standard analytical tests including Brix, pH, turbidity, and other routine quality assessments.
- Collect, review, and file supplier Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) for incoming raw materials.
- Document and maintain records relating to HACCP Critical Control Points (CCP) and Operational Prerequisite Programs (OPRP).
- Prepare samples for external laboratory testing where required.
- Organise, store, and manage retained QC samples, ensuring proper labelling and storage conditions.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments on a regular basis to ensure reliable test results.
- Monitor laboratory inventory and ensure adequate stocks of reagents, materials, and consumables are maintained.
- Identify potential quality issues within the QC process and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a Quality Control laboratory environment, ideally within the food, beverage, or related manufacturing industries.
- Experience performing routine laboratory tests such as Brix, pH, and turbidity analysis.
- Familiarity with quality and safety standards including HACCP, GMP, and GLP.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
