Salary £31,606 per annum for 36.25 hours per week.
Downing College is seeking a motivated individual to join our small and friendly Bursary team in a varied and fulfilling role, contributing to a diverse and rewarding range of responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Receiving, checking, circulating, coding and inputting invoices received, and ensuring their timely and accurate payment.
- Matching purchase orders with invoices and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensuring timely payments to suppliers while maintaining accurate records.
- Preparing monthly reconciliations of supplier accounts.
- Assisting in the preparation of month end and year end financial processes.
- Supporting the team in maintaining financial controls and compliance.
- Responding to supplier inquiries and manage internal stakeholder requests efficiently.
- Maintaining and updating the purchase ledger database, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Processing expense claims and payment of student claims, awards and prizes.
- Processing credit card statements.
- Reconciling all College bank accounts, and maintaining records and accounts for the Amalgamated Clubs.
- Administration of any payments under the Construction Industry Scheme.
- Be educated to A-Level / equivalent qualification or educated by experience.
- Have previous experience in a purchase ledger or similar accounting role.
- Be proficient in using financial software and Microsoft packages, particularly Excel.
- Have a strong understanding of GDPR and HMRC Legislation.
- Have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Be friendly and approachable.
The post of Purchase Ledger Clerk is a permanent, full-time role, working 36.25 hours per week. These hours are expected to be worked Monday to Friday, starting at 9.00am and finishing at 4.45pm with an unpaid 30 minute lunch break (although there is potential for a degree of flexibility on start/finish times). The annual salary is £31,606 per annum for 36.25 hours per week (Step 39 on the College Salary Scale).
