Public Procurement Lawyer (Commercial Disputes)

Location: Leeds

Salary: £90,000 to £120,000 + bonus and benefits

Experience: Managing Associate (6+ years' PQE) or Legal Director (8+ years' PQE)

Our client is looking to recruit a senior Public Procurement Lawyer into its Public Law and Procurement Disputes team in Leeds, at Managing Associate or Legal Director level.

This is a genuinely interesting role for someone who enjoys high-stakes, tactical disputes and wants to sit at the point where public law, procurement and commercial disputes meet. The team supports clients across the full procurement lifecycle, from early-stage strategy and risk management through to complex, time-sensitive challenges.

You'll join a leading UK practice recognised for high-profile judicial reviews and complex, high-value procurement challenges.

The team acts for both contracting authorities and bidders across all stages of the procurement lifecycle, including urgent injunction applications, damages claims and strategic advisory support on high-risk procurements. The work is sector-led, with a strong footprint across healthcare, defence, transport, real estate, technology, infrastructure and energy.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Advising on a broad range of public law and procurement matters, with a focus on judicial review and procurement challenges
  • Leading complex, often urgent matters, taking supervised responsibility for case management and delivery against tight court and client deadlines
  • Coordinating internal teams, instructing counsel, and managing strategy and risk throughout the lifecycle of a dispute
  • Providing clear, commercially grounded advice that is practical and outcome-driven
  • Keeping up to date with legal and regulatory developments and translating them into actionable guidance for clients
  • Building and maintaining key client relationships and playing a central role in business development
  • Working closely with colleagues across disputes, public law, procurement, innovation and sector teams
  • Supporting and developing junior lawyers, contributing to a collaborative, high-performing culture
  • Identifying opportunities to improve delivery through innovation, legal technology and AI tools
What We're Looking For
  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales
  • 6+ years' PQE with strong experience in public procurement and judicial review matters
  • Confident leading complex matters and supervising others
  • Strong drafting and advocacy skills, with a pragmatic, commercial approach
  • Comfortable working at pace on urgent applications and high-risk disputes
  • Strong client-handling skills and a collaborative working style
What's On Offer
  • Salary of £90,000 to £120,000 + bonus and benefits
  • High-profile, cutting-edge work across procurement challenges and judicial review
  • A senior role with real visibility, responsibility and scope to shape the growth of the practice
  • A supportive, collegiate culture where ambitious lawyers are encouraged to succeed
  • Strong development support, including structured training, mentoring and leadership programmes
  • A genuinely inclusive environment with active employee networks and space for people to bring their whole selves to work
  • A firm that values innovation and continuous improvement, with encouragement to use technology to deliver better outcomes
