Psychologist - East Limerick Children's Services, Limerick

Salary: subject to relevant public sector experience and pro-rated for hours of work. Reference: 100557.

Key Responsibilities and Experience
  • Have a university degree or diploma (QQ1 Level 8 equivalent) with 1st or 2nd class honours in psychology.
  • Hold an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology, or an equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.
  • Demonstrate competence in the Care Group(s) applied for.
  • For clinical or counselling psychologists: have completed at least 60 days of supervised clinical placements or post-qualification supervised work experience in Disability (Child & Adult), Child Psychology or Adult Psychology. (Note 2 - a combined total of 60 days across qualification and post-qualification experience is not acceptable.)
  • For educational psychologists: have completed at least 60 days of supervised clinical placements or post-qualification supervised work experience in Child Disability or Child Psychology. (Note 2)
  • Be a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Have experience working with children and/or adolescents and their families with complex needs.
  • Have knowledge and skills in conducting diagnostic assessments of children and young people, including Autism and ID.
  • Be familiar with the HSE Progressing Disability Services Programme.
  • Have experience working within a complex disability team and in interdisciplinary team working.
  • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and caseload-management skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate Level 1 behavioural competencies of the Avista competency framework.
