We are working with a well-established UK-based engineering and defence technology company that specialises in delivering advanced electronic and communication systems for mission critical environments. With decades of expertise, they support global defence and security operations, offering end to end solutions from design and prototyping through to integration and support.

We are looking for a hands on Prototype Wire Technician to join a growing engineering team working on cutting edge, bespoke technology. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the full product development lifecycle, building and supporting high quality prototype systems in a fast paced R&D environment.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out prototype wiring, including soldering, crimping, and cable assembly
• Building electrical and electromechanical assemblies from technical drawings and schematics
• Interpreting wiring diagrams, BOMs, and engineering instructions
• Supporting prototype builds, modifications, and design changes
• Conducting basic inspection and testing
• Ensuring all work meets quality standards (IPC A 610 / IPC A 620)
• Working closely with engineering and production teams to resolve build issues

Required Skills

• Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
• Proven experience in wiring, cable assembly, or electromechanical assembly
• Strong skills in soldering and crimping
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
