Job Description
ProofPoint Email Security Engineer

Our Multi-national client are looking to onboard an Email Security Engineer with strong skills within Proofpoint to support their implementation across the business from an engineering and support capacity. This is a 3 month rolling contract operating INSIDE IR35 and will be requiring 2 days per week in the London office so candidates must be able to commute.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and maintain the Proofpoint Enterprise Protection platform.
  • Develop, implement, and fine-tune email security policies, rules, and filters within the Proofpoint console to minimise false positives.
  • Perform regular health checks and performance tuning of the Proofpoint environment.
  • Investigate and respond to email security incidents, including phishing attacks, business email compromise attempts, and malware delivery.
  • Generate regular reports on email security posture, threat trends, and Proofpoint effectiveness.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an email security-focused role, with a strong emphasis on Proofpoint.
  • Expert-level proficiency in administering and configuring the Proofpoint email security platform.
  • In-depth knowledge of common email-borne threats and attack techniques including phishing, spoofing, malware, and ransomware.
  • Experience in the following Proofpoint modules;
  • Proofpoint Enterprise Protection (PEP): Email filtering, anti-spam, anti-virus, policy management.
  • Proofpoint Targeted Attack Protection (TAP): URL Defence, Attachment Defence, Email Warning Tags.
  • Proofpoint Email Fraud Defense (EFD): DMARC, DKIM, SPF implementation and monitoring.
  • Experience with other Proofpoint modules (eg, TRAP, PPS, PDR, Cloudmark) is a significant advantage

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications such as Proofpoint Certified Security Professional, CompTIA Security+, or CISSP.
  • Experience with Scripting languages like PowerShell and Python for automation.
  • Understanding of cloud security principles, including Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace email security features.
