Job Description

Duration: 12-month contract (with possibility of extension to a permanent role)

Salary: $37,000-$42,000 USD per annum, based on qualifications, experience, and location

Location: Remote (UK, US, EU, or Canada preferred). Applicants from other regions may be considered, subject to local employment laws and right to work.

Reports to: MEER Core Leadership Team

Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week preferred). We are open to part-time arrangements (30-35 hours/week) for experienced candidates, with adjusted compensation. Flexible working hours are supported, but availability is required during core coordination hours: 14:00-18:00 UTC (9:00-13:00 ET)

MEER.org is a pioneering global nonprofit tackling climate change through reflective cooling technologies, applied science, and community-focused solutions. We develop scalable surface reflectors made from recycled materials that not only reduce local heat but also help lower global temperatures by reflecting solar radiation back into space. Job Purpose

Join MEER's expanding international team as a Project Officer, working under the supervision of the Core Leadership Team and in close collaboration with project officers across Africa, India, and other global locations. This hybrid role blends administrative coordination and communications, with an approximate 50/50 split.

Job Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with financial administration tasks, including spreadsheet management, tracking project budgets, liaising with back-office providers, processing invoices, and managing payroll and payments
  • Maintain and enhance operational workflows, using cloud-based tools and project management software (e.g., Asana)
  • Coordinate and monitor project timelines, supporting cross-team collaboration and reporting
  • Manage and publish MEER's monthly newsletter and contribute to communications strategies, including social media scheduling and campaign planning
  • Assist in drafting and editing content to support outreach, awareness, and advocacy
  • Support regulatory compliance processes and administrative systems, including correspondence, file management, and cybersecurity procedures
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to the Board and leadership team (e.g., scheduling meetings, filing minutes, arranging insurance, and managing travel logistics)
  • Help manage HR processes such as recruitment, onboarding, and maintaining internal records
  • Support occasional international shipping or procurement processes
Skills and qualifications
Candidate Profile:
  • Minimum two years of experience in an operational, project support, or administrative role
  • Strong proficiency in spreadsheets and financial administration
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, ClickUp, or similar)
  • Strong IT and digital literacy, including Microsoft Office and online collaboration platforms
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills; high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently in a remote environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Commitment to MEER's mission and values
  • Legal right to work in one of the stated or eligible locations
  • Degree in a numerate or relevant field
  • Experience in human resources or nonprofit governance
  • Prior experience with organizational scaling or managing growth periods
  • Interest in climate change mitigation, environmental justice, or public engagement
