FindCore are thrilled to be assisting a specialist heritage construction and restoration business with the recruitment of a Project Manager - Heritage Works.
Permanent position. This role will be based in Penkridge, Staffordshire, with travel to project sites as required.
This is a practical, hands-on position within a small specialist contractor, managing heritage, refurbishment and conservation-led projects rather than large main-contractor developments.
Salary
£45,000-£50,000 (Higher salary can be discussed dependent on suitable experience), depending on experience + potential vehicle or vehicle allowance + possible performance-related benefits
Key Responsibilities
- Take day-to-day responsibility for the delivery of small heritage and refurbishment projects.
- Manage two small works teams, including two Team Leaders and approximately eight employees overall.
- Plan and sequence projects, typically valued at around £40,000.
- Turn agreed scopes of work into practical and achievable site delivery plans.
- Ensure labour, materials, subcontractors and site access arrangements are in place.
- Monitor project progress, quality, safety and costs against agreed expectations.
- Maintain accurate site records, photographs, task updates and progress reports.
- Ensure RAMS, task instructions and site-control procedures are followed.
- Identify potential issues early and escalate significant concerns to the Managing Director.
- Communicate professionally with clients, consultants, suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to support effective project delivery.
- Promote high standards of workmanship, organisation, cleanliness and site discipline.
- Use project-management and compliance software to record labour, tasks, photographs, quality checks and site progress.
- Ensure Team Leaders and site operatives consistently follow the company's digital processes.
- Support the continued development and improvement of project-delivery systems.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience managing construction, refurbishment or small works projects.
- Experience supervising tradespeople, Team Leaders or small site teams.
- Strong practical understanding of construction-site delivery.
- Heritage, listed building or conservation experience would be highly advantageous.
Prefered skills & experience but not essential
- Experience within traditional building repair, specialist refurbishment or high-end residential projects would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of traditional materials or techniques, including lime, stone, timber, roofing or windows, would be advantageous.
- Confident managing practical site teams within a small or medium-sized contractor.
- Good understanding of health and safety, RAMS and site-compliance requirements.
- SMSTS or SSSTS qualification would be advantageous.
- CSCS card is expected.
