About The Role

We're excited to introduce a brand-new team and opportunity within the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal team. The Planning team has been recently created to improving planning and drive change to support the Poppy Appeal strategy. As the Poppy Appeal Project Manager, you'll play a vital role in driving a variety of projects that support the delivery and growth of our most iconic fundraising campaign. From strategic initiatives to operational improvements and fast-paced task and finish pieces of work, this role offers real variety and impact. If you thrive on bringing clarity to complexity, making change happen, and seeing your work make a tangible difference, this could be the role for you.

Come and be part of the leading Armed Forces charity, making a difference to the lives of those who have served to keep us safe and protect our way of life.

Reporting to the Head of Poppy Appeal Planning, you'll lead a diverse portfolio of projects from inception to completion scoping, planning, delivering, and evaluating each one. You'll take pride in breaking down complex workstreams into manageable milestones, defining clear responsibilities, and ensuring deadlines are met. Using best-practice project management approaches, you'll oversee progress, manage risks and issues, and ensure each piece of work contributes to the Poppy Appeal's overall success without disrupting core delivery.

Collaboration is key to this role. You'll be working closely with colleagues across the organisation particularly with the Poppy Appeal Planning Manager to ensure that change is well-coordinated, well-communicated, and effectively integrated into existing operations. You'll also help champion a culture of continuous improvement, sharing your project expertise to support colleagues and influence better ways of working. With some travel required (including monthly meetings in London), you'll be comfortable building strong working relationships across teams, even when working remotely.

We're looking for a confident and capable project manager with proven experience across both strategic and operational projects ideally within a charity or not-for-profit environment. You'll need to be a proactive self-starter, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and skilled at working with a wide range of stakeholders. A relevant project management qualification is essential, alongside strong technical know-how and a real drive to make things better. If you're someone who enjoys being at the heart of delivery and making change stick, we'd love to hear from you.

At the Royal British Legion, we know the importance of flexibility, so we offer options like our 9-day fortnight while also considering other flexible working arrangements to suit your needs. We want you to feel supported in balancing work with life's other joys!

You will be contracted to your home address and will carry out the majority of your work remotely, using our collaboration tools to engage with colleagues. Regular travel to London will be required once a month for team meetings, and there may be additional travel and occasional out-of-hours work to support meetings with volunteers and key stakeholder groups.

Employee benefits include -

- 28 day's paid holiday (plus bank holidays) increasing with service, with optional annual leave purchase scheme of up to 5 working days
- Generous pension contributions, with Employer contributions ranging from 6% to 14%
- Range of flexible working options may be available, depending on your role
- Employee Assistance Programme providing confidential counselling, financial and legal advice

- Opportunities to volunteer
- Travel loans, Cycle to Work, and more!
