Required Skills

Good standard of education (A Levels or equivalent),CNCI/NVQ in Structured Cabling or Equivalent, Experience in Structured Cabling,Site management skills and knowledge of LU estate infrastructure,Sentinel with ICI (LU),A minimum of 3 years experience in Site, Supervision/Management and ITP plus 2 of the following: QAF54, L&E, Confined Space, First Aid at Work, CNCI/NVQ in Structured Cabling,Advanced Computer skills (Microsoft Office applications and PDF editor/exchange),Excellent Communication skills (both verbal and written),Some Project Management Skills,Knowledge of TFL Site Rules and Standards,Flexibility and adaptability to changing workloads.

Job Description

Installation Technology (IT) have been providing network solutions for over 30 years. We work with some of the biggest organisations in education, healthcare and transport. We are looking for DataComm Project Engineers to provide engineering management and QA function to support the design, installation, and handover of assets to the client (London Underground).

The immediate requirement is to solve problems on-site, manage site work efficiently while making sure quality standards are met, and change requests are submitted promptly with required drawings. This means the project engineer is required to cover various London Underground sites and report findings to the project team for provision of fixings, cable installations, and CMS systems. In addition, the project engineer is required to provide engineering management a QA function to ensure consistent quality of both installation and supporting documentation from subcontractors is achieved prior to submission to the client. The QA aspect may extend into further support of the subcontractors' workflow to ensure the current challenging deadlines are met.

It is anticipated the role will broaden into a wider hands-on management of one of the station engineering delivery work streams or the power installs, overseeing all aspects of the subcontractors' work.

The role is in engineering hours and applicants must be willing to work nights, weekends as well as attend meetings during the day (early mornings or late afternoons) daily to report their findings to the Project Managers and discuss next steps.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Follow Operation Manager's/Program Manager's/Account or Project Manager's/ instructions
  • Produce documents for works and conduct site surveys when required
  • Conduct site briefings and Toolbox Talks if and when required
  • Manage site and the safety of all engineers on site
  • Attend meetings and report progress of work on a weekly basis
  • Assist with site inspections / HSQE
  • Oversee Passive Fire Protection
  • Investigate and solve errors in installation
  • Follow CAD drawings and plans to install cables and outlets in the correct locations
  • Stay up to date on all relevant H&S legislation and apply to the day-to-day working environment including customer requirements
  • Ensure all documentation including daily shift reports, are submitted on time and in the format prescribed
  • Follow the ECS/Sentinel scheme rules as the individual card holder/ Lead Engineer/SPC
  • Take reasonable care of themselves and others who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work
  • Take reasonable care of all tools, PPE, and other company equipment provided
  • Cooperate with employer to enable them to comply with the law
  • Attend Engineers' Meetings as and when required
  • Client orientated and the ability to be part of the project team
  • Positive attitude to change
  • Act as a company ambassador at all times

Experience:

  • Construction project supervisory: 5 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Sentinel with ICI
  • UK Driving Licence
  • Structured Data Cabling or Electrical Qualification
  • ECS/CSCS (preferred)
  • QAF54 (preferred)
  • Site/Track SPC/SSSTS/SMSTS/IOSH (preferred)
