Project Engineer - Bedfordshire
Salary: £55,000
Office-based with some UK and international travel
UK-based engineering company specialising in designing, manufacturing, and installing turnkey food processing systems.
Our client designs and manufactures cutting-edge food processing equipment, and they are looking for a talented Project Engineer to join their dynamic projects team. If you thrive on variety, responsibility, and delivering engineering solutions that make a difference, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
About the RoleAs a Project Engineer, you'll manage projects from order to successful installation and handover. Acting as the primary customer contact, you'll ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standard.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and agreeing project scope with clients and the sales team
- Owning and maintaining project schedules (Gantt charts)
- Producing key project documentation (P&IDs, BOMs, layouts, timing plans, etc.)
- Specifying and sourcing components and equipment
- Organising delivery, installation, and overseeing subcontractors where required
- Managing Factory Acceptance Testing, packing, shipping, and Site Acceptance Testing
- Delivering training and final project handover to clients
- Ensuring commercial awareness and timely invoicing throughout the project lifecycle
You'll split your time between the office and customer sites. UK overnight stays and some overseas travel will be part of the role.
What We're Looking For- Proven experience delivering engineering projects, ideally within food processing or a process engineering environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across all business functions
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and organised with a "can-do" attitude
- Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project
- Skilled in AutoCAD LT
- Knowledge of steam systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, pipework, and basic electrical controls (beneficial)
- Full UK driving licence
