Job Description
About The Role
Definition: The person responsible for overseeing each phase of a project until completion.
Responsibilities:
- Read and understand the Company's Safety Statement and ensure all employees under your control are informed.
- Communicate relevant health and safety information to the Regional Director/Project Manager/Site Agent, including but not limited to:
- Underground services
- Ground conditions affecting stability and safety (soil, water table, toxic substances, gases, etc.)
- Report unsafe conditions observed on site to the Site Manager.
- Work safely, using protective equipment and precautions, especially near public roads or water.
- Maintain records of underground services, marking them with posts and signs during construction.
- Ensure design calculations and temporary works certificates are independently checked.
- If the Project Manager/Site Agent is absent, the Site Engineer will assume health, safety, and environmental responsibilities.
- Familiarity with HSQE management systems and current statutory HSE legislation.
- Understand the project's contract form and implications of variations or change orders.
- Monitor project program and manage implications of overruns on costs and manpower.
- Review specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
- Set out, level, and survey the site according to drawings and specifications.
- Prepare labor, plant, and material reports; create as-built drawings, technical reports, and maintain site diaries.
- Liaise with purchasing to ensure purchase orders meet requirements.
- Requisition materials and plant.
- Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, site supervisors, planners, and the workforce.
- Manage daily site operations, supervise labor and subcontractors.
- Plan work and organize resources to meet deadlines.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager regarding construction schedules and constraints.
- Ensure safety compliance.
- Resolve technical issues with stakeholders and authorities.
- Maintain quality control per procedures, plans, and inspections.
- Verify materials and work meet specified standards.
About You
Requirements:
- A degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
- Membership in a relevant professional institution.
- Construction experience on similar projects, committed to safety and environmental standards.
- Full clean Irish/UK/EU Driving Licence.
- Legal authorization to work in Ireland (e.g., valid Work Permit or Stamp 4 visa).
